Benjamin Gutsin, O.D. is a dedicated optometrist with a patient-centered approach to care. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo and his Doctor of Optometry degree from Salus at Drexel University, where he participated in the prestigious 3-Year Accelerated Scholars Program.
Dr. Gutsin’s clinical training includes externships at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilmington, DE, Ophthalmology Physicians & Surgeons in Collegeville, PA, and Total Eye Care Centers in Levittown, PA, where he specialized in ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and pre- and post-operative care.
Prior to joining Community Eye Care Specialists, Dr. Gutsin served as an optometrist and Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the Ross Eye Institute in Orchard Park and Buffalo, NY. In this role, he managed a high-volume patient load with a focus on ocular disease, specialty dry eye treatments, and pre- and post-operative care. He also contributed to medical education by mentoring students and residents.
Dr. Gutsin has received numerous accolades, including the CooperVision Best Practice Scholarship and the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. He is a contributing writer to Review of Optometric Business and a former presenter for the National Optometric Historical Society.
Dr. Gutsin is committed to evidence-based care and has passed parts I, II, and III of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO). He is licensed to practice optometry in New York with oral medication prescribing privileges. Outside of his practice, he enjoys exploring new foods, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family.
